About Me
I'm simultaneously behind the scenes and always in your face as are all costume designers. I started this journey as a stylist in DC working with individuals to tell their personal style stories.
Eventually I began styling for more creative projects and that was more my speed. Stepping into style + creative directing led me to the world of curation + costume design.
research & inspiration
Costume design & styling starts with research and drawing inspiration from surrounding elements along with your
characters & scripts. I usually start with reading, highlighting, notating and breaking down my script then I go into
RESEARCH & INSPIRATION
mode.

Next comes designing and collaborating across departments. In this phase we sketch, source, shop, build, fit, alter, and on-set dressing sometimes you do it all! As a costume designer you get to wear many hats, especially if it's an indie project.
CDs are responsible for ensuring the actor invokes the spirit and physical essence of the character. As a CD, I've been on music video sets, theater stages, tv/film sets, photos/production studios.

I loved the costumes by Bebe LaMonica. They conveyed the humility, dignity, self-awareness, and intentionality of African-heritage women in America from mid-20th century. They didn’t necessarily look vintage: they looked… remembered.
